Action Alert: Protect the right to protest in GA

Protect the right to protest in GA

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

SB 469

Background

As Americans, we value our right to peacefully congregate when an injustice is committed. We cherish our right to speak freely without fear of arrest or jail time. We support the right of unions to fight for better working conditions and pay for working class people and their families.
However, State Senator Don Balfour (R-Snellville) has introduced a bill, SB-469, to take away these constitutional rights. Senator Balfour has introduced a bill that, if passed, will weaken Georgia's unions and criminalize peaceful, non-violent protesting and picketing. If the bill is passed, protestors and picketers can face up to a year in jail and an aggravated misdemeanor charge.
We see it as an attack on all working people and all people working for racial, economic, and social justice.

Vote No on SB 469

Dear Representative,

Hi I am your constituent and I urge you to vote NO on SB-469. As Georgians we value our right to peacefully assemble and the right for working people to organize. SB-469 is an insult to Atlanta's civil rights legacy. Please stand up and protect the voice of Georgians. Vote no on SB 469.
